My research interests lie at the intersection of vision, behavioral ecology, and evolution. Using everything from cleaner shrimp to zebra finches, my research projects are all united by my interests in how organisms perceive their visual world, and how that perception influences the evolution of signaling behaviors, signal form, and interactions with con- and hetero-specifics.
In Fall 2021, I will be starting as an Assistant Professor in the Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology Department at the University of California Santa Barbara.
Please visit the Caves Lab Website for more details about my research and lab.
